Gonorrhea

(The Clap)

Gonorrhea is the second most commonly reported bacterial STD in the Unisted States. Gonorrhea can cause infection in the genitals, rectum, and throat. It is very common, especially among young people ages 15-24 years. Most people with the infection have no symptoms, so it's important to use protection and get tested regularly.

Symptoms

Gonorrhea is a sexually transmitted infection (STI) that may lead to infections in the genital, the rectum, and even the throat area. It is quite frequent, particularly among young individuals between the ages of 15 and 24.

How do you get it?

It is possible to contract gonorrhea by having sexual contact (vaginal, anal, or oral) with a person who already has the infection. A person who is pregnant and infected with gonorrhea is at risk of passing the illness on to their unborn child.

How do you protect yourself?

Avoiding oral, vaginal, and anal intercourse is the only approach for completely preventing the risk of sexually transmitted infections (STIs). If you engage in sexual activity, reducing your risk of contracting gonorrhea may be accomplished by the following measures: being in a monogamous, long-term relationship with a partner who has been tested for gonorrhea and is negative for the infection. Always and properly using condoms whenever you engage in sexual activity.
